You know how it goes when your client’s headed to the salon to get their hair colored, expect pics of their favorite celebs and models for reference. But there is a chance your client’s inspo may come from a different type of art – we’re talking the museum-worthy kind.
Ursula Goff, Kansas-based hair colorist, turns the hair of her clients into recreations of classic art pieces. Ever thought you’d see Van Gogh’s Starry Night spread across some locks? Neither did we. But we’re definitely glad we did. Goff replicates the paintings on hair extensions to preserve the color from regular washing. And as with any real masterpiece, the looks take hours to complete. But she’s the real deal – after taking a look at her IG, we think Goff should add “hair artist extraordinaire” to her resume.
I entered this in the BTC one shot contest last year, but I’m entering it again because I love it and I’m sort of proud of it and it was hard as hell to get right. Plus, it’s super weird and you know I love my weird shit. #behindthechair #btconeshot_vibrant17 #btconeshot_unconventionalcolor17 #expressionism #edvardmunch #thescream #arthair #paintingsonhair
If there was some kind of hair Museum (someone makes that happen), we’d be the first in line to see this exhibit.
I wore this Kandinsky hair weft in my hair at the Behind the Chair show last year and @marybehindthechair was petting it while we chatted, lol. I love this painting so much I also just bought a giant rug with this design on it for the lobby of my salon. Painting this was one of my favorite projects this last year, but I’m working on some new ones that are pretty fun, too. Gonna try to get those up in the next few weeks… #behindthechair #btconeshot_vibrant17 #btconeshot_unconventionalcolor17 #kandinsky #wassilykandinsky #abstracthair #synesthesia
